Insulting judge: Female lawyer’s conviction upheld

Manama  : A court has upheld a female lawyer’s conviction of insulting a judge. However, her three-month-in-jail sentence was downgraded to BD50.

The defendant was put on trial after accusing a judge of being biased to police officers during a court hearing in 2013.

The lawyer, who was defending suspects charged of rioting, dubbed the police officers as ‘animals’. The judge requested her to avoid using such terms. However, she responded by accusing the judge of being biased to police officers.

Later, she admitted to her offence and offered to apologise.
