ISB Vice Principal retires after 32 years

Manama: The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Vice Principal HR Dr Ashfaq Ahmed has retired after 32 years of dedicated service in educational field.

Dr Ashfaq has taught generations of students and provided the excellent service and outstanding leadership to the school throughout the years.

He was the first expatriate staff in the Chemistry department of the Indian School.

Before joining the Indian School, he worked as a teacher in St Andrews College, Mumbai. ‘At that time I saw an advertisement in Times of India for the post of a teacher in ISB, and I applied and was interviewed in Delhi by Atma Jashanmal who was the school chairman at that time, Dr Ashfaq Ahmed said.

 Dr Ashfaq, who joined the Indian School on 26 January 1984, has served as HOD of the department and was Vice Principal of ISB twice earlier, during the chairmanships of Dr E.V Krishnan and Dr Kamaruddin.He was assigned as VP-HR under the chairmanship of Abraham John.

Dr Ashfaq hails from Azamgarh, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, and now settled in Mumbai.  

  His children Nadeem Ahmed, Saleem Ahmed and Saleha Ahmed completed their studies in Mumbai. Wife  Afsari Bano has visited Bahrain once. Life as an expatriate in Bahrain was quite comfortable and easy-going for me, he told DT News.

 Referring to the Indian School, he said the Indian School politics would remain as long as elections are held to select the executive committee members. Dr Ashfaq said he plans to take up some new assignments in Mumbai after a knee operation.
