Kerry’s visit fosters bilateral ties with US: Shaikh Khalid

ManamaThe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met yesterday the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, who is currently on an official visit to Bahrain.

Shaikh Khalid welcomed his American counterpart, appreciating the visit especially at this crucial time that poses many challenges to the region. 

The Minister also praised the advanced level of relations between Bahrain and the US in all fields, while commending the ongoing coordination between the two countries. Underlining the importance of paying official visits, Shaikh Khalid stressed that such visits would enhance consultations on all aspects and boost friendly relations between both the countries.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, who participated in the meeting, pointed out the need for cementing  economic and trade relations between Bahrain and the US, taking into account the potential opportunities in light of the Free Trade Agreement. 

Meanwhile, Kerry reiterated firm commitment of the US government in expanding areas of cooperation with Bahrain in various fields.

The US Secretary of State also underscored his country’s resolve to further boost economic and trade relations with Bahrain for the benefit of the two countries.

The meeting also reviewed issues relating to the agenda of joint meeting between the GCC foreign ministers and the US Secretary of State.

Both sides also discussed key developments and other regional and international issues of common interest.
