Techie sentenced to jail for blackmailing
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced an IT employee at a local private school to one year behind bars for blackmailing the school owner’s daughter.
The accused was allegedly asked to format the victim’s laptop, but he extracted personal images and threatened to publish them if she doesn’t hand over him BD200.
The woman who also served as a music teacher in the school, filed a complaint against the defendant.
“He obtained the pictures in 2014, but after more than a year, came to me and began threatening he would publish them online,” she told prosecutors.
“He asked me for BD200, but I gave him BD83,” she added.
Fed up, the woman filed a complaint against him after he demanded more money.
