BD150 raised for Al Dana memorial

ManamaThe annual golf tournament held at the Royal Golf Club in remembrance of the 58 people who died in the Al Dana Dhow tragedy on 30 March 2006 has raised BD150 and to be used by the Christian Community Cemetery Committee (CCCC), to support the upkeep of a memorial headstone in the old Christian Cemetery in Manama.

The event was organised by “The Royalists” golf society and the money was raised by donations from the competition’s participants.

The 2016 Al Dana Memorial Trophy was won by Ronan Armstrong (nett 73), Dagfrid Berge (74) was runner up and the 2016 Gent’s Club Captain Jason Smith (75) came in third.

Nearest the pin side contests on all the par 3 holes on the Club’s Montgomerie championship course were won by Hanne Hansen (hole 2), Rob Lane (hole 7), Steven Hill (hole 12) and Nils Berge (hole 16).

Results: Individual Gross: 1) Ronan Armstrong (74). Individual Nett:  1) Ronan Armstrong (73), 2) Dagfrid Berge (74), 3) Jason Smith (75),  4) Steven Hill (76 on count back), 5) Gordon Bennie (76).
