‘Chaos in the Town’ inspires harmony and social values

Manama : A children’s theatre production by the School of Speech and Dramatic Arts (SSDA), “Chaos in the Town”, kicked off yesterday.

The production directed by Ruqaya Amer and Kanwal Hameed, supported by the Economic Development Board and hosted by Bahrain’s Spring of Culture event planners, highlights the concepts of kindness, cooperation and friendship.

The Arabic play is being held at the Alumni Club in Adliya till today, at 10.30am and 4pm.

Mantoor, a donkey, which collects waste materials from the whole town, is the star of the play. One day, the monkey goes missing, and stinky garbage piles up in the town.

Children are hesitant to come out and play and the adults hide inside their homes, grumbling.  Then a boy comes forward deciding to confront the messy challenge ahead of him. His adventures lead him to Mantoor, and together, they discover the significance of team spirit and a positive attitude. This play is an adaptation of story by Fatima Sharafeddine.

Both performances yesterday were sold out.

Tickets to the play, which cost BD 4, can be bought at the Spring of Culture Ticket Booth at City Centre (Entrance 1) or online via: www.springofculture.org/events/chaos-in-the-town.
