Semeen shines in Bahrain Gold cup

Manama: Second favourite Semeen owned by Mohammed A Rahman Al Jassmi, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by Stephane Ladjadj won the seventh and richest race for the Bahrain Gold Cup sponsored by VIVA Bahrain for imported three tears and upwards over 2,000 metres and worth BD10,000 yesterday, in the 23rd meeting of the season at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.

Coming in second place three lengths behind was pre-race favourite Field Of Fame owned by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by three-time champion jockey Frankie Dettori, ahead by a neck of third placed third favourite Chopin owned by Maher Ebrahim Lutfalla, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Alberto Sanna, while fourth place went to Barreesh owned by Ramadhan Stable, trained by Jaber Ramadhan and ridden by Abdulla Faisal.

VIVA Bahrain sponsored five other Cups with the other race being for the Bahrain Derby.
