Union Plastics move to new $20 million premises in Hidd

Manama  : Union Plastics will soon complete its shifting to its new facility in Hidd and will increase its exports, DT News has learnt. More jobs will be created and capacity will also be increased from the current levels.

Mohamed  Allengawi of Union Plastics said that the shifting started couple of weeks back and will be completed by May. The factory, which will be shifted from Sitra to Bahrain International Investment Park in Hidd, is estimated to be worth US$20 million, including the shifted equipment. The company specialises in signage, complete shop interior fit outs, exhibition stands and all kinds of custom fabrication.

He added that the company is now present predominantly only in the domestic market and the new factory will allow them to start aggressive exporting with fewer hassles. The company is planning to increase its production and will hire around 50 more employees in coming months. It now employs more than 100 people and plans to hire people across skill sets required in its operations.

The main construction contracting for the new building was awarded to Abdulla H. Alderazii, and it was consulted by Middle East Architects.

“We will have a larger capacity at the new factory, and it will be easier for importing materials and exporting because the new location is near the port. Also, we have many benefits from being there in having the land, accessibility and logistics.”

“Union plastics is looking to export to Saudi market from the new facility along with serving the domestic market” he said.

The company part of Union group, a family owned business group, doesn’t plan to raise finance from public or private placement in the near future, he added. All the expansion plans will be funded by the group itself. Union group consists of Union Press, Union Stationery Items, Union Envelopes and Modern Union Envelopes Trading.
