Asian woman forge Bahraini employer's sign in cheque

ManamaThe High Criminal Court has reduced the jail sentence of a woman implicated in a forgery case to one year instead of her initial two years imprisonment.

The Asian woman was serving in a saloon and she reportedly had stolen the cheque book of her employer.

According to court files, she forged the signature of her employer in three cheques, and she managed to get BD1500 from the saloon account in the bank.  The owner of the saloon is a Bahraini man, while the facility was managed by his wife, and both filed a complaint after finding that three cheques got stolen from the cheque book.

The Asian woman, aged 30, told prosecutors that she stole the cheque book from the owner’s handbag which was left unattended in the kitchen.

The woman was initially ordered to be deported from Bahrain, but it was found that she was married to a Bahraini man and was in custody of a four-year-child from him.
