Insulting cop: Jail term of 22-year-old man upheld

ManamaThe High Criminal Appeals Court has upheld the three-month-jail term of a 22-year-old Bahraini man, who insulted a police officer and had a heated argument with his brothers.

The man’s brothers called the police station, requesting help after a confrontation with the defendant.

A police captain ordered for his arrest, and a police patrol was sent to his home. The defendant initially refused to enter the police patrol, threatening the police officers.

The defendant was transferred to the medical facility belonging to the Public Security Department for a regular check-up. But he threatened that he would destroy it if they didn’t complete the tests within 30 minutes, according to court files.

Moreover, he shouted at police officers when they took him back to the detention facility, and ordered them to give him the cell he feels comfortable
