AmCham to mark 10th anniversary of FTA
Manama : The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) has announced its partnership with the American Business Association – Eastern Province (ABA-EP) for AmCham’s 1st Annual Golf Tournament at the Royal Golf Club at Riffa Views.
The announcement was made during a press conference at The Four Seasons Hotel in Manama yesterday.
The one-day tournament will be held on April 29, starting from 7am, followed by an awards celebration dinner later in the evening at US Ambassador William V. Roebuck’s residence.
AmCham is celebrating the US-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement’s (FTA) 10th Anniversary this month and the golf tournament is in commemoration of this significant time. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached more than US$2 billion in 2015.
AmCham Bahrain President Qays Zu’bi said, “A big thank you to all of our sponsors for supporting this event. We are looking forward to continuing this valued relationship between the Bahrain and the US – may friendship and good will continue to grow.”
Riffa Golf Club Manager Ben Simpson said, “We have been hosting golf tournaments for many years, so we have a lot of great experience. We expect this event to be nice and fun, and most importantly it will be a team experience.”
A total of 120 players representing over 40 companies will compete in a “Texas Scramble” on 18 holes at the Royal Golf Club at Riffa Views.
AmCham Bahrain also announced the winners of the 4th Annual AmCham MENA Council Women in Business Awards. These awards recognise the notable achievements of Middle Eastern women leaders in the corporate world, entrepreneurs and civil society leaders whose achievements have set the benchmark for others to follow.
The winners of the 4th Annual AmCham MENA Council Women in Business Awards were honoured during the press conference.
Mirna Michel El Achkar – Head of Legal for GCC Ahli United Bank (Best Woman in the Corporate Sector for Bahrain), Nada Alawi Shubbar – Founder of Annada (Best Woman Entrepreneur for Bahrain), Hala Sulaiman – Director of Marketing and Communications at Tamkeen (Best Woman in the Non-Profit Sector for Bahrain), The Bahrain Development Bank Group (Best Company for Women to Work For, and Best Bank Supporting Women Owned and Women Led Businesses) are the winners honoured.
