ManamaWorld-renowned author and speaker Dr. Deepak Chopra delivered an inspiring seminar yesterday on health and wellbeing. The seminar titled ‘The Future of Wellbeing’ was organised by Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR), a subsidiary of A. Dadabai Group of Companies at Crown Plaza.

Dr. Chopra is the founder of The Chopra Foundation and Cofounder of The Chopra Center for Wellbeing.

During his talk, Dr. Chopra explained that psychological, emotional, social and physical wellbeing are interrelated. He said that the key to maximise potential and enhancing wellbeing is through synergy of mind, body and creative processes. He spoke about alternative medicines, suggesting that it could aid in reducing stress and in making lasting changes.

He explained the concept of the reptilian brain and how overriding the reptilian brain can help one reduce stress.

“You need to observe your reaction to react. This can be done through the STOP technique, S stands for stop, T stands for Take three breaths and smile, O for Observe your body and P for Proceed with passion. This way you can override your reptilian brain, which is the cause of stress,” he said.
