ManamaLed by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee and Captain of Bahrain Endurance 13 Team, Bahrain was placed first among the participating teams at the Ironman African Championship held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on Sunday.

Following this first achievement for the Kingdom, winning first place in the championship reserved a spot for the team in the World Ironman Teams Championship that takes place in Croatia next September.

Shaikh Nasser dedicated this remarkable achievement to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, highlighting his support and care to Bahraini sports.

He expressed winning the best team in Port Elizabeth and qualifying for the World Ironman Teams Championship for the first time is an honourable achievement for the team who won first spot among 1200 international professional athletes.

Shaikh Nasser stressed Bahraini triathletes have become strong contenders in International Ironman and Triathlon championships that came as a result of competitive planning, national pride and desire to honour and promote the kingdom in international sporting events.

Shaikh Saqr bin Salman Al Khalifa, the President of Bahrain Triathlon Association praised the team members for accomplishing such an honourable achievement and appreciated the support of Shaikh Nasser to Bahraini triathlon, ironman and endurance sports.
