Swindling bid: Final hearing on May 10

ManamaThe closing arguments in the trial of two traffic officers and four others accused of conning out insurance companies by forging accident reports involving luxury cars will be delivered on May 10.

The case came to light after the Head of the Claims Department in an insurance company tipped a police captain in the General Directorate of Traffic about a suspicious accident report. The complaint stated that the same report was sent earlier with a different date, and the owner of the car was already paid BD23,000.

The second accident report was carrying a different issuance date, and probe found that the two traffic officers are implicated in forging it in a bid to swindle the insurance company.

Further probe found that the accidents were deliberately made in order to cancel the vehicles and get financial compensations from the insurance companies as the value of the vehicles was way less than the demanded amounts.

They pleaded not guilty to fraud and forgery charges.
