Indian criminal enroute to Bahrain arrested

ManamaA wanted criminal, who was on his way to Bahrain, was arrested by the Indian authorities on Tuesday. 

Dilip Sharma, who reportedly ran an extortion racket in India, was caught just before he was about to leave for Bahrain. 

Apparently, Sharma has cheated numerous wealthy businessmen by using an Internet calling feature to make extortion calls. 

According to reports in India, he received help from his associates in Bahrain for his crimes. It was difficult for the police to trace Sharma as he made extortion calls through Internet, said reports.

Sharma managed to obtain a passport under the alias of Amit Singh, registered in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, reported The Times of India. He also had a fake voter’s ID, driving licence and four bank accounts under the alias. 

The police have recovered all the fake documents. Sharma will be charged under the Indian Passport and Arms acts as well as acts related to impersonation, forgery and fabrication of official documents.
