KHK MMA team vying for UFC title
Manama : The Khalid Hamad Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) team continues its preparations for the (UFC on FOX 19) Fight Night, organised by the UFC Ultimate Fighting Championship at Tampa in the US state of Florida tomorrow, featuring Russian professional fighters Khabib Nurmagomedov “The Eagle’ and Islam Makhachev.
Nurmagomedov (22 wins 0 loss) will face US Darrell Horcher (13-1) “The Saint’ in the Lightweight category 155lbs (70kg), while Makhachev (12-1) is in the same category and faces American fighter Drew Dober (16-7 (1) at the UFC Fight Pass Early Preliminaries.
The KHK MMA Organisation approved the participation of the two professional fighters and reflects KHK’s team keenness to bring more achievements.
Nurmagomedov who is 27 years old began his professional MMA career in 2008, as he participated in an international championship in Ukraine and won the fight against Vusal Bayramov.
Makhachev, 24 years old, began his professional career back in 2010 with a win against Magomed Bekbolatov.
The CEO of KHK MMA team Mohammed Shahid affirmed that the participation of Nurmagomedov and Makhachev is an implementation of the directives of the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and Founder of the KHK MMA team HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to boost the Kingdom’s status in major MMA championships.
He also expressed the team’s keenness to achieve more gains and achievements in international championships.
