ManamaSeveral suspects were nabbed by security authorities yesterday in relation to the terrorist blast, which killed a policeman and injured two others in Karbabad on Saturday.

This was announced during a meeting held between Interior Minister Lt General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and senior security officials.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement that the meeting came to brief the officials on the latest security situations in the country and the results of the investigation into the terrorist attack in Karbabad village.

The Minister stressed during the meeting that anyone who incites violence will be held accountable by the law. He stated that 17 policemen have been killed since 2011 and that he hoped everyone involved in these crimes will be brought to justice. The most recent terrorist attack in Karbabad was the result of incitement from both inside and outside of Bahrain. The Minister called upon parents to protect their children from cyber incitement, the statement read.

Shaikh Rashid asserted that police personnel are legally authorised to use force against anyone who jeopardises the lives of police officers or the security of the nation, and that the role of police is to protect general order.

Additionally, the Minister stressed on the importance of justice in terrorist cases to protect security and punish those responsible from committing such attacks.

The meeting came one day after policeman Mohammed Tanweer was killed in a Molotov attack on a police patrol vehicle in Karbabad on Saturday night.

The Minister offered his sincere condolences to Bahrainis and to the family of the deceased policeman, Mohammed Tanweer, who was killed on Saturday during the attack.  He prayed for his soul to rest in peace and for the fast recovery of the two other injured policemen, the ministry’s statement added.
