New traffic e-service launched to ease purchase of used cars

ManamaA new electronic traffic service was announced yesterday, allowing the public to have access to vehicles’ history through their smartphones, smart devices and computers.

The Interior Ministry confirmed in a statement issued yesterday that “the General Directorate of Traffic announced the launching of a new e-service to enable the public to get access to important information about vehicles they want to buy through the e-records of vehicles on the national portal www.Bahrain.bh.”

Licencing Affairs Acting Director Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Mahmood Yousif said, “The new e-service could speed up the purchase process as the clients could get all required information about the car online. It’s expected to improve the process of buying used cars as the buyers could check if the vehicles they want to buy were involved in accidents or not, as well as the number of previous owners of the cars they want to purchase.”

He also said “the new service is part of efforts to enable public to get traffic services online around the clock to enhance traffic facilities in Bahrain. Service could be obtained by logging in through PCs or smart phones.”

The directorate also said that it offers several electronic services besides the newly announced one.

“The department offers a host of e-services such as car registration, driving licence renewal and booking driving learning lectures. For more suggestions or information the public could contact the National Communication Centre on 80008001,” the statement added.
