ManamaProfessional MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov knocked out American Darrell Horchert in the second round after 3.38 minutes on a technical knockout in the 155lb (70kg) lightweight category in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on Fox 19 FIGHT NIGHT at Arena Amalie, in Florida State, US.

The  win for Nurmagomedov, known as ‘The Eagle,’ extended his winning streak to 23 wins and no losses.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) and founder and leader of the Khalid Hamad Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MAA) Organisation congratulated the leadership on the latest in the series of achievements by the KHK MMA Team.

Shaikh Khalid was in attendance for the bout and provided him with moral support and encouragement during the fight.

Shaikh Khalid also congratulated HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee on this achievement and boosting the overall level of the sport in the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Islam Makhachev was pulled from his lightweight bout with American Drew Dober due to a positive pre-fight drug test following a UFC announcement late Friday, several hours after the weigh-ins. He has been given a provisional suspension by the UFC, according to the promotion’s official statement.

“The UFC organisation was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Islam Makhachev of a potential Anti-Doping Policy Violation involving Meldonium, a prohibited substance, stemming from a recent out-of-competition sample collection. In accordance with the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, Makhachev has received a provisional suspension, and has been removed from his scheduled bout against Drew Dober from Saturday’s card in Tampa,” the statement read.
