Bahrain court rules 7-yr prison for fraud

ManamaAn Asian national who conned a Riffa gold shop by selling fake gold has been sentenced to seven years behind bars.

The defendant allegedly exchanged 13 bracelets with some gold items from the shop.

He reportedly provided a receipt as well as copy of his passport to show that the bracelets were genuine.

“I was later told that the man who came here was a con artist, and is implicated in similar cases. I inspected the bracelets that he gave me and found that they were fake,” the owner of the shop told prosecutors earlier.

It’s worth noting that the defendant sold fake gold pieces to another shop for BD31,000.

He was accompanied by another man during his visits to the shops, but the accomplice is still at large.

Following his arrest, police officers found that his passport was also forged.
