Bahrain Interior Ministry summon Al Wefaq members

Manama : Two members of Al Wefaq National Islamic Society had been summoned, announced the Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs of Interior Ministry yesterday.

Al Wefaq Assistant General Secretary Khalil Ibrahim Marzooq and organisation member Abdulaziz Ibrahim were summoned regarding the statements released on Al Wefaq website and social media account.  

The statements questioned the procedures taken by the Interior Ministry and other authorities in the State, besides seeking interference of foreign organisations.

The Interior Ministry official said the act is considered to be a call for interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom. 

He said that such statements cause friction among various segments of society, promote unrest and sectarian tensions, spread false news, incite hatred, and harm the internal and foreign affairs of Bahrain.

The two individuals were asked to cease the release of such statements, especially in light of the current regional situation, official stated.

He added that Bahrain promotes freedom of expression within the constitution and the law and that those who break the law will be held legally accountable.
