IFA Chairman opens new Paris HQ

Manama: International Fertiliser Industry Association (IFA) Chairman Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery opened its new headquarters in the French capital, Paris.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jawahery said the new offices; the largest in the last 50 years, would contribute significantly reducing costs and comes within the framework of the IFA’s significant role in facing industry challenges.

He said the IFA is keen to provide a stimulating and ideal work environment and the new building would in its achieving its objectives. He said its strategic location would help the IFA transfer its experience and vision to member states.

Dr. Jawahery said the new offices, in the heart of Europe, would allow the IFA to continue to work to strengthen its network and establish more powerful and influential relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners.

He said the fertiliser and nutrients industry is crucial for the European economy. Dr. Jawahery said according to a recent report, fertiliser consists of 26 per cent of farmers’ total production costs in the European Union. He said the region is experiencing a lack of competitiveness, which makes it the largest net importer of food resources for agricultural needs.

Dr. Jawahery thanked all IFA officials, particularly IFA Secretary General Charlotte Haberand, for their efforts in managing the secretariat and the steps they have taken to achieve a sustainable global future.
