Cost of ‘Super’ is 195 fils/litre: Dr. Mirza
Manama : The new gasoline type introduced on Monday is estimated to be priced at 195 fils/litre, Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza revealed.
Dr. Mirza said that the newly-introduced 98-octane gasoline comes within the Ministry’s efforts to diversify products in the local market, following the directives of the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is the Chairman of the Executive Committee.
As reported earlier, the 98-octane gasoline, known as ‘Super’, will be a third option for customers, alongside the 91-octane Jayyid gasoline and the 95-octane Mumtaz gasoline. The Minister mentioned that the “Super” gasoline type is used in some fellow GCC countries like the UAE and Kuwait, and introducing it in Bahrain comes to fulfil the needs of high-performance vehicles that require 98-octane gasoline.
Dr. Mirza, who is also the National Oile and Gas Authority (NOGA) President, said that the authority is working in coordination with Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) to introduce the new gasoline type by the second half of April, 2016.
“We’re looking forward to initially providing the new gasoline type to several fuel stations, including Sanabis, Muharraq, Formula One fuel stations and later Tubli fuel station. More stations could be included within the near future,” the Energy Minister added.
