Imagine Cup 2016 Bahraini winners awarded

Manama : Microsoft hosted an event yesterday at ART Rotana Hotel to award the local winners of the Imagine Cup 2016.

Imagine Cup is a global student technology competition that provides opportunities for students across all disciplines to team up and use their creativity and knowledge of technology to create applications, games and integrate solutions that can change the way we live, work and play. Students aged between 16 and 24 participated in it.  

The event awarded one team in each of the following categories: “Innovation”, “World Citizenship” and “Games.” All three teams, each in its category, will represent Bahrain at the “Imagine Cup Pan-Arab 2016 Finals” to be held in Cairo – Egypt between May 27 and 29. 

Since its inception in 2003, several Arab teams made their way to the first three winners in the Worldwide Finals: In 2014, two Arab teams won recognitions at the Worldwide Finals: Butterfly Team from Bahrain won third place in the Innovation category, Team Illogic from Egypt won third place in the Games category. 

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will return to the Imagine Cup World Finals in July 2016 for the third year in a row where he will not only crown the World Champion, but will conduct a one-on-one mentoring session with the winning team.
