Nadeem, Vishnu shine

Manama : Nadeem Nahas and Vishnu Sreekumar came from a game down to defeat Jayakumar Pullanhi and Paulson Lonappan 14-21, 21-13, 21-5 in the Premier Flight final of the inaugural Syed Modi Badminton Doubles Tournament for 2016-17, sponsored by Nisha Uniforms at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) premises in Segaiya.

This was the first of the monthly tournament’s scheduled since the new BKS Executive Committee took charge and was played over four days featuring more than 100 players in five flights based on skill levels. 

In Flight 1 final action, Binoy Varghese Kalayil and Manoj Shekhar came from a game down to beat Ben George Joseph and Mujeeb Rahman 9-21, 21-13, 21-14.

After the five finals, a prize distribution for all the winners and runners up was held followed by dinner with officials from BKS attending the ceremony and Indoor Secretary Noushad Cheriyil expressing a vote of thanks.

Other results: Flight 2: Sarish Boban/Sumesh Mani bt Bijosh Kidangan Jose/Gilbert Vincent 21-18, 19-21, 21-15. Flight 3: Karthik M/Anil Mathew bt Riyas Ibrahim/Faisal MC 13-21, 21-16, 7-5 (could not complete the third game as Riyas was injured). Flight 4: Mathew K.Cherian/Anvar Sadath KV bt Shashi Jayakumar/Vinay Varghese (21-19, 17-21, 21-12.)
