Drug peddler sentenced to 5 years behind bars

The High Criminal Court sentenced a drug peddler to five years behind bars. He was also held guilty of substance abuse, and the court handed him BD1000 fine apart from the jail time.
Prosecutors charged the accused of selling shabu and other recreational drugs after catching him red-handed in a sting operation.
His illicit activities exposed following a tip off to anti-narcotic police that he that he used and peddled shabu.
Further investigation confirmed the validity of the information, following which, police assigned an undercover agent to establish contact with the accused to trap him. The agent lured him into selling shabu for BD400.
Anti-narcotic squads traced him and arrested him as he entered his apartment. Police also inspected his apartment, from where, a digital scale and four sachets of shabu were discovered.
