Drug mule slapped with life sentence in Bahrain
Manama : The High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a Pakistani drug mule with life imprisonment.
The 28-year-old was arrested while carrying 100 capsules of heroin in his stomach upon his arrival at the Bahrain International Airport (BIA).
His crime came to light after officials at BIA spotted him with symptoms of extreme fatigue. On suspicion, he was frisked, but no suspicious objects were found.
Therefore he was taken directly to Salmaniya Medical Complex, where he underwent x-ray test.
According to court files, the total weight of the capsules was about 800 grams.
The defendant told prosecutors that a man gave him the capsules and agreed to pay 100 rupees (360 fils) for every capsule he manages to smuggle into Bahrain.
The defendant was ordered to be deported from Bahrain upon completing his jail term.
