Reward hike for tip-off on Sitra dog killers
Manama : Animal lovers have now promised up to BD970 for information leading to the capture of people who recently killed three stray dogs in Sitra. This was announced by Rengin Maklai, a member of Bahrain Strays group, on her Facebook page.
"Reward is 970 BD now with the latest BD200 donated by Max Rome," says the post. "The reward was started by me and followed by members from the animal groups. Money will be collected by me and will be given to the informer only after the murderer(s) are handed over to justice and after the confession of their crime. Thank you all for the support." Maklai has posted a notice in Facebook and a petition in change.org calling for better practices for animal protection rights and strict punishment of these attackers.
She initially offered BD100 for the informer. DT News had earlier reported of the public outcry after three dogs were killed on Tuesday in Sitra. Animal activist Fathiya Al Bastaki and other members of Bahrain Strays found the animals killed in the most brutal state - two were slashed and beaten to death while the third was burnt alive.
Fathiya Al Bastaki confirmed that there were about 50 dogs that the Bahrain Strays members feed in the whole Sitra area and the three dogs were found in an industrial area in front of a warehouse in Sitra.
