Death of labourers in Bahrain : Acquittal confirmed
Manama : The High Criminal Appeals Court has re-confirmed the acquittal of senior officials at a construction company, who were accused of causing the death of three labourers. The victims died after inhaling hydrogen sulphide inside a sewage facility in Sitra.
According to court files, the second and third victims died while they were trying to rescue their colleague, who was the first to inhale the gas.
A report on the incident concluded that the four defendants were responsible for causing the death of the trio, as they didn’t ensure maximum safety measures.
The defendants were earlier sentenced to six months behind bars by the High Criminal Court, but their charges were later dropped by the High Criminal Appeals Court due to lack of evidence. And another Appeals Court has acquitted them.
