Assault, theft: Bahraini teen’s detention renewed
Manama : The High Criminal Court renewed the detention of a teenager accused of robbing a mobile phone from an Asian man.
The latter, aged 33, reported to police that two young Bahrainis attacked him before stealing his phone. The defendant whose remand custody was renewed, is merely 15 years old.
“While I was heading to my apartment, I saw a car occupied by a number of young people tracing me. Suddenly one of them disembarked from it and he followed me. When I tried to flee, he caught me and punched in my eye,” the victim told prosecutors.
“He robbed my Samsung Note 3 and fled,” he added.
The accused was identified by the victim during a live lineup. He was charged with robbery and physical assault.
