Two sentenced for stealing prescription to buy drugs
Manama
The High Criminal Court sentenced two persons to 6 months each behind bars for stealing empty medical prescriptions and a doctor's stamp.
According to court files, the first accused stole the prescriptions and the stamp, and later, his accomplice used them to buy recreational drugs. However, the former claimed he was drunk when he committed the crime.
"I was drunk when I saw the doctor’s office open. I went inside the room and took the stamp and the prescriptions," he said in his statement.
"As I was leaving, I saw my friend (the second accused). He took the prescriptions from me, wrote the name of the drug and stamped them," he added.
According to court files, the first accused was a supervisor at the same hospital. The duo was exposed after a suspicious pharmacist informed the doctor about the incident. The doctor in turn informed police.
The first accused said he was planning to return the rest of the prescriptions after use.
