Hill, Robert qualify for World final

Manama : The ninth and final round of the Audi quattro Cup qualifying series, which took place at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, saw Fahad Al Hakam (39 points) take the round win with an excellent stableford score ahead on count back from Ronan Armstrong (39) in second place with Mohammed Al Noaimi (39) in third. The weather conditions and the course set-up favoured the lower handicappers with Bahrain national team members Nasser Yaqoob and Hamad Mubarak a point further behind on 38 points.

In all 80 competitors turned out for the final round of the tournament, which was open to both members and visitors with valid handicap certificates.

With the ninth and final round completed, the overall standings saw Steven Hill and Arnaud Robert qualify for the world final to be held in Barcelona, Spain on October 6. Both Hill and Robert had been pacesetters in the early rounds and their consistent play and positive attitude was rewarded by the time the totals for the ninth round had been finalised.

In a prestigious finale to the tournament Director of Audi Middle East, Enrico Atanasio, a developing golfer himself, was in attendance to support players and congratulate the winners.

Audi National Day will be the next big exciting event to be held at the Royal Golf Club in December 2016. The competitors at this is invitational golf event will include a field of 50 percent Bahrainis, who will join with the expat community to celebrate Bahrain’s National Day.
