Rampersad, Diab take Monday Madness golf

Manama : Serwin Rampersad and his playing partner Mohammed Diab (nett 28) won week three of the six-week Porsche Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club.

Last week’s runners up, Yusuf Janahi and Ali Al Kowari (29) repeated their feat this week, while the duo of Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed and Ali Al Hakam clinched third place on count back (30).

There was an unusual battle for fourth place when two pairs of golfers scored the same on every hole, both gross and nett scores. With no way to separate them, the points were split equally between the two pairs of Taimur Malik and Ali Babtain and Rob Lane and Nils Berge.

Winner Rampersad won an additional prize for coming nearest to the pin on hole 12, while runner up Ali Al Kowari was closest to the pin on hole 16.

Nearly 50 players took part in the “Shambles” format tournament which was played under floodlights on the back 9 holes of the challenging Montgomerie championship course. Porsche branded flags and the latest models of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Porsche Cayenne GTS were displayed on the course for the duration of the competition.

The evening was rounded off with a prize presentation ceremony in the Club’s Members’ Lounge where Sohail Singh, the Royal Golf Club’s Tournament Coordinator, was on hand to present the prizes on behalf of Porsche Centre Bahrain.

Results: 1) Serwin Rampersad/Mohammed Diab (28 nett), 2) Ali Al Kowari/Yusuf Janahi (29), 3) Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed/Ali Al Hakam (30 on count back).
