Insurance e-service to cut waiting period

Manama: With the Kingdom witnessing large traffic of travellers on the King Fahd Causeway ahead of the Labour Day and the weekend holidays,  United Insurance Company (UIC) has launched insurance e-service to reduce the waiting period for travellers at the insurance cabins.

The service titled ‘Issuance of Insurance Policies for King Fahd Causeway’ was introduced in collaboration with the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA). The service is expected  to take just a few minutes to complete and thereby avoid traffic snarls.

UIC General Manager Ahmed Yousif Al Ammadi pointed out that the causeway witnesses huge demand during weekends and public holidays, resulting in an increase of waiting periods for beneficiaries of the insurance service carried out through the cabins.

“Hence, the e-service comes as a successful alternative and is available round-the-clock as well as throughout the week so as to enable travellers heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to issue the insurance policy for their vehicles in advance and before passing the bridge,” Al Ammadi said.

“The insurance service, which only covers Saudi Arabia, also enables them to electronically pay the policy fees; which contributes in speeding the completion of the transaction and reducing the waiting period,” he added.

Al Ammadi confirmed that providing such service comes within the framework of enhancing the partnership between both the public and private sectors. He indicated that since its launch, the service has benefited more than 10,000 travellers.

Travellers can visit the portal, select the service entitled “Issuance of Insurance policies for King Fahd Causeway” from the service menu, then click on ‘Start Service’. Owners of Bahraini-licensed private cars are required to submit their personal details and information of their vehicles. In the case of companies, users are required to insert the CR number if the vehicle is owned by the company.

A confirmation of issuance will then be given by sending the insurance policy and its reference number via email along with an SMS to only Bahraini mobile numbers, notifying the user of the process completion.

Established in 1986 as a Bahraini joint stock company with the capital of BD1 million, UIC was formed mainly to provide insurance to all vehicles, which travel through the King Fahd Causeway in accordance with the Bahrain Insurance Company Law and the Arab Treaty for vehicles crossing Arab countries.
