ISB organise UNESCO-themed exhibition

Manama : The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) organises a students’ exhibition on the Isa Town Campus, based on the UNESCO theme Education for Sustainable Development emphasising knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future.

The exhibition will be open to the public today and tomorrow between 4pm and 6.30pm. ISB students will be present to explain to the visitors the importance of environment with the help of models and charts that they have prepared. 

“Education for Sustainable Development means including key sustainable development issues into teaching and learning. These include climate change, disaster risk reduction, biodiversity, poverty reduction and sustainable consumption,” said ISB chairman Prince S Natarajan, “It also requires participatory teaching and learning methods that motivate and empower learners to change their behaviour and take action for sustainable development. Education for Sustainable Development consequently promotes competencies like critical thinking, imagining future scenarios and making decisions in a collaborative way.” 

Bahrain National Commission for UNESCO Secretary-General Lubna Selaibeekh inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Education Ministry officials Hanan Al Mehza, Rasheega Al Shaikh, ISB Chairman Prince S Natarajan, Secretary Dr. Shemily P John, Vice-Chairman Muhammed Iqbal, Member Academics Khursheed Alam, Member Transport & Discipline Bhupinder Singh, Member Sports Jayafar Maidani, Principal VR Palaniswamy and staff representative Priya Laji.

Mega Fair

The Indian School Mega Fair and Food Festival will take place today and tomorrow on the Isa Town campus from 4pm to 11 pm. Today evening, three well-known South Indian singers Vineeth Sreenivasan, Akhila Anand and Arun Raj will perform, while tomorrow evening will see two of Bollywood playback singers Shilpa Rao and Vipin Aneja entertaining the crowd.

The Jashanmal Auditorium will come alive with a very special exhibition where Electronics, household gadgets and even advanced learning skills will be on display. Big companies like Intercol, Meenumix, DC Books, Devji Group and KENSHO will be present. 

Bahrain’s famous Asharafs will have a display and sale of mobile phones and accessories as well as other electronic gadgets. Visitors to the Jashanmal Auditorium will be able to watch a presentation of “The Indian School Saga – a walk through memory lane” a glimpse of its sixty plus years of its journey through videos, photos etc.

For the first time in Bahrain, 3D street artists Jincy Babu and Limnesh Augustine will be presenting their beautiful chalk art as part of the carnival. They will display their talents and interact with students and the public about this extraordinary art form.
