Bid to smuggle drugs, dope for animals from Bahrain foiled

Manama : More than 200 bottles of liquor and around 130 bags of banned animal dope were seized on the Saudi side of King Fahd Causeway recently. According to Saudi daily Al Riyadh, the suspects used three vehicles to smuggle the bottles and bags from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia.

Quoting King Fahd Causeway Saudi Customs General Director Dhaifallah Al Otaiby, the Saudi journal reported that 110 bottles were found stashed in special compartments inside the first vehicle.

“The bottles seized from the first car were hidden in compartments specifically made for smuggling purposes inside the doors, front bumper and the dashboard. The second package, consisted of 92 bottles, was found stashed in the fuel tank of another vehicle. As for the banned animal dope, 126 bags were found stashed in the four wheels of a third vehicle,” Al Otaiby stated, adding that all suspects were referred to the concerned authorities.

DT News reported last week that Saudi Customs caught a man, who was trying to enter the Kingdom through King Fahd Causeway by hiding a child in the car.

According to Saudi press, the man claimed that the child was his own, but failed to show any formal proof of his claims.
