Bahrainisation: Training of RICI plays major role
Manama : Resource Inspections Canada Incorporated (RICI) will play a vital role in the Bahrainisation process by giving specialised training to Bahrainis, said RICI Director Mazhar Hussain yesterday. Until now, Bahrainis had to travel to the US, Canada and Europe for the training.
He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a reception given by the RICI after its successful completion of certification audit by International Accreditation Services (IAS) Assessors from the US- David S. Nelson and Osman Vural.
He said with this qualification they would be able to acquire the positions where the expatriates are working right now, and they could easily replace them because this qualification will make them competent enough to meet all the international standards.
“There are almost 97 per cent expats working in the labs. So there is a good chance once the local people acquire this qualification through the RICI and then they can easily replace the expatriates,” Mazhar said.
He said that they were trying to beat the international players by having their presence in Bahrain.
The RICI has recently acquired an accreditation by the IAS, an international body based in California USA.
Mazhar said the RICI identified in Bahrain and in different parts of the GCC that the governments are investing a lot of money to acquire quality products and that there is a big need to enhance the competency of the GCC nationals.
“This programme, approved by the IAS for the RICI, has two titles – Certified Civil Laboratory technicians and Certified Calibration Laboratory Technicians,” said Mazhar adding, “Those who work in calibration laboratories and in civil labs will get this certification, which is just like a diploma. Based on this credential they will be having a good number of job openings.”
David S. Nelson, Programme Director, IAS said that the RICI was working on a programme to certify the laboratory technicians. He informed that they had accredited a number of testing laboratories.
According to Osman Vural, Technical Assessor, IAS, RICI has a big responsibility in this area and certificates issued by RICI would be internationally recognised.
“It would be a great service to the local people here, who are now not required to go to the US or Europe for this purpose as RICI would be supplying the same here,” he noted.
“These programmes will play a vital role for Bahrainis by providing them with more opportunities not only in the GCC but also all around the world,” Osman pointed
out.
The RICI is the only accredited company in the region, which gives certification to the civil lab technicians and calibration technicians.
He also remarked that the IAS is a well-known accreditation body in Bahrain and other Gulf countries. Pakistan Embassy Head of Chancery, Bahrain, Muhammad Ahad was the chief guest of the function.
