iGA wins Smart Govt Excellence Award

Manama : Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohammed Ali AlQaed was conferred with the Smart Government Excellence Award for his substantial achievements in implementing the National eGovernment Strategy in Bahrain.

The award ceremony was held under the patronage of Kuwait’s Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shaikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah. Besides the Minister, Arab and GCC delegates, public and private organization representatives also attended the event.

On this occasion, AlQaed expressed his delight in receiving the award, pointing out that it adds to the Kingdom’s honourable record within the IT and eGovernment fields and praised the support of the Bahraini leadership to iGA.

“Such an achievement is also derived as a result of the supportive efforts and constant direction of the Supreme Committee of Information and Communication Technology chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. I sincerely appreciate his support to various eGovernment programmes and initiatives so as to offer citizens and residents with the best services which are in accordance with international standards,” the iGA chief added. 

In addition, he thanked all the government entities, stressing that the recognition is an evidence of their cooperation in executing the eGovernment Strategy and adopting latest technology.

The move has consequently reflected on delivering high-quality services to the beneficiaries, allowing every citizen to conveniently and easily complete various government transactions by clicking on their mobile screens, he said.

AlQaed further thanked Kuwait for honouring him, stating that the award is considered very important in supporting the GCC’s exerted efforts of promoting the eGovernment programme in the region. He also praised the role of the Arab governments, their achievements within the eService sector and the preparations in transforming to the concept of smart government.

Held in its seventh edition, the award aims at recognising the efforts and accomplishments of the Arab governments in delivering government services alongside spreading knowledge to the public via websites as well as social media. 

The award is held in parallel to the ‘Roadmap towards Smart Government: A Gradual, Orderly Transition Conference’ in conjunction with the ‘Honouring Ceremony of the Best Practices in Smart Applications of Arab Governments.
