Heavy prison terms for planting bomb in Duraz

Manama : The Supreme Appeals Court upheld the 15-year-jail sentences issued against three defendants embroiled in planting an explosive in Duraz.

The accused allegedly planted the bomb to target police officers assigned to patrol the village.

The bomb was reportedly made by the first defendant, who placed it near a park in the village while his accomplices surveyed the area.

The bomb, however, failed to explode.

Police investigations found that the first accused was already implicated in other similar cases.

He was arrested on April 11 last year. He then guided police to a cache where a bomb and five detonators were unearthed.
