Bahrain jail man for selling drugs

Manama : The High Criminal Court has condemned a 49-year-old man to 10 years behind the bars as well as BD5,000 fine for selling drugs.

The defendant, a truck driver, was added to the surveillance list after reports indicated that he was peddling hashish. He was eventually contacted by an undercover police officer, who approached him to purchase hashish for BD300.

The officer offered to pay BD100 and to complete the payment by the end of the month when he receives his monthly wage, in an effort to deceive the defendant.

And the trick fooled him, as the Bahraini man invited the officer to his house to receive the piece of hashish.

The latter then requested the 49-year-old man to smoke the hashish inside his house, and it was met with acceptance.

The police officers later raided the house, and found the man’s 19-year-old son and his 23-year-old friend in an abnormal state.

They both later failed a drug test and were sentenced to six months in prison.
