Man gets jail in Bahrain for consuming drugs
Manama : The High Criminal Court has sentenced a man to six years behind bars along with BD1500 fine for consuming drugs and possessing a pistol. On a tip-off, Anti-Narcotic Department at the Ministry of Interior assigned an officer in plain clothes to lure him.
The officer contacted him and inquired about the possibility of buying BD100 worth of hashish. They met after the officer’s request was accepted. Realising that he was being chased, the man absconded later.
However, police spotted him walking near his car with another man. They arrested both of them.
The police also seized a gun as well as illicit drugs from his car. The other man, who was arrested with him, was also accused of possessing drugs, and was sentenced to one year in prison with a fine of BD1,000.
