Bahrain arrest ATM card - info theft gang
Manama : Security officials arrested a racket comprising two men and a woman while they were installing card-reading devices in ATMs across Bahrain.
The trio made their first appearance yesterday at the High Criminal Court, entering a “not guilty” plea. The defendants landed in police net after cameras installed in a local mall caught them covering the lens of an ATM camera.
When a security officer at the mall was notified about their act, he intercepted them. The defendants had several advanced devices designed to be installed in the ATMs to steal cards’ information.
The woman is in her forties. Their trial was adjourned until June 6 to summon an interpreter from the Chinese Embassy to translate their statements. They are in police custody, pending the case.
