Bahrain firm ordered to pay BD14,600 to sacked staff

Manama : A European man was ordered to be compensated BD14,600 after being dismissed by a local company, in which he served for only eight months.

This came after he filed a complaint at the Labour Court after the company sacked him, although he had agreement under a fixed-term contract.

The man’s monthly wage was set at BD2,000, but the company failed to pay some of his salaries. The ruling came despite that there is an ongoing lawsuit filed by the company against the man, accusing him of embezzlement.

The Labour Court said the European man’s lawsuit is based on labour rights in the capacity of salaries and benefits, and the embezzlement case against him has nothing to do with them.
