‘Company of the Year’ contest winners declared

Manama : Team Roshena from Ibn Khuldoon National School and team Avenir from University of Bahrain (UoB)were announced as winners of a youth entrepreneurship competition yesterday. 

The winners of the “Company of the Year” competition, which ran in two main categories namely “High School Company of the Year” and “University Company of the Year,” were announced during an awarding ceremony at Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel here. Roshena was the “High School Company of the Year” and Avenir was “University Company of the Year.” 

The competition was organised by INJAZ Bahrain, a non-profit organisation focused on youth economic empowerment.

In the other categories of the competition, “Bahrain Bayan School Innovators” team from The Bahrain Bayan School won the “High School Product of the Year”, Avenir team won the “University Product of the Year,” Tickpills team from Al Eman Girls Private School won “High School Company for Best Social Impact” and “iEnjoy and Benefit” team from the University of Bahrain won “University Company for Best Social Impact.”

Commenting on the competition, INJAZ Bahrain Executive Director Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa said: “We are immensely proud of the hard work done by the students. Through this competition they displayed integral skills, including innovation, creativity and teamwork, which will pave the way when they progress professionally as the future business leaders of Bahrain. I thank everyone who contributed to the success of the Company Competition, especially our esteemed judging panel, partners, event volunteers and school coordinators. And special appreciation to the Ministry of Education for its continued support to our programmes.”

The winning teams from both categories (High School and University) will represent INJAZ Bahrain and the Kingdom at the regional INJAZ competition taking place in Bahrain in November. The winning teams received the trophies from Shaikha Hessa and INJAZ Bahrain Chairman Dr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery.

A total of 17 teams from 14 secondary schools and two Universities participated in the competition. The participants are as follows: Al-Eman Girls Private School, Isa Town Secondary Boys School, West Riffa Secondary Girls School, Al-Taawon Secondary Boys School, Al Aahad Al Zaher Secondary Girls School, Sitra Secondary Girls School, British School of Bahrain, Abdulrahman Kanoo International School, Arabian Pearl Gulf School, Ibn Khuldoon National School, Sh. Hessa Girls School, Bahrain Bayan School, Nasser Vocational Training Centre, Ahlia University and University of Bahrain.

“Over the previous academic year, INJAZ Bahrain’s programmes reached more than 20,000 students, 130 schools and five universities. This tremendous accomplishment would not have been possible without the dedicated 800 volunteers. They devoted their time and effort to empower the next generation of Bahrainis to own their economic success with our entrepreneurship, work-readiness and financial literacy-based programmes. All volunteers were honoured at the event and presented with certificates of appreciation and a special honouring of 70 outstanding volunteers,” INJAZ Bahrain said in a statement.
