Bahraini men jailed for posing as police
Manama : The High Criminal Appeals Court has upheld the jail term issued against a Bahraini man, who posed as policeman to rob an Ethiopian woman.
The defendant was earlier handed down six months behind bars. Another man, who was involved in this case, received the same sentence, but he didn’t appeal his court ruling.
The duo reportedly knocked on the door of the woman’s apartment at night, and told her that they were police officers and were assigned to check the validity of her visa.
The woman refused to abide by their orders and asked for evidence that they were police officers. As a result, the duo physically attacked her and stole her iPhone 6 and ran away.
However, the woman managed to take down the registration plate number of the vehicle they used to flee.
The defendants were nabbed later and the woman recognised the driver of the vehicle in a live police line up.
