Bahrain Light Festival witnesses high turnout

Manama  : The Bahrain Light Festival was launched yesterday by Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani in the presence of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority CEO Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.

The festival was held as a part of the ‘Manama Gulf Capital of Tourism 2016 calendar’ at Al Fateh Corniche. It aims to introduce the latest innovations in light installations by showcasing the works of international contemporary artists.

Among the international artists taking part in the event are Titia Ex who will be exhibiting her ‘flower from the universe’ installation along with Jane Louise Studio who will be exhibiting ‘the pool,’ which is an interactive installation. 

The Bahrain Light Festival will also feature the work of renowned Arabic calligraphist Karim Jabbari, who will be exhibiting innovative installations inspired by the Arabic typography. The festival also included the installations such as Jellights and Les Lumineoles.

Minister Al Zayani praised the event organised by the BTEA, stressing on the importance of such festivals in highlighting the Kingdom’s touristic offering. He also stated that the participation of international artists through unique artworks and lighting installations has transformed Al Fateh Corniche and the capital Manama into a beautiful light haven.

The Minister also stressed on the importance of such events in promoting key touristic and heritage sites in line with BTEA’s efforts to increase the number of tourists coming to Bahrain.

Meanwhile, the BTEA chief said, “The festival aims to introduce visitors to a unique and a colourful experience, which is suitable for all age groups. It is an opportunity for people to interact and engage through a creative platform.”

The Light Festival will run until May 9 from 6pm-11pm. Entry is free for all.
