Bahrain MP calls for integrated medical city

Manama : MP Mohammed Al Maarifi proposed to establish an integrated medical city yesterday. 

According to him, the proposal is aimed at making the Kingdom a destination for medical tourism. 

“Through the establishment of an integrated medical city, containing various medical and therapeutic services, specialised in one location to be an attraction for tourists in the Kingdom. It would meet the medical needs of citizens and expatriates,” Al Maarifi remarked.

He pointed out that the proposal comes with the direction of the government to implement a health insurance system for residents and citizens. 

The application of this system requires the demand for medical services and treatment. 

“Besides, the implementation of this proposal will vitalise the tourism sector and the labour market, by attracting and encouraging investments in hospitals, medical therapy and pharmaceutical centres,” he added.

The proposal was submitted along with MP Osama Al Khaja, Diyab Al Nuaimi, Mohsen Al Bakri and Nabil Al Balooshi.
