Lane wins British Airways Open

Manama : Debbie Lane (39 points) won the inaugural British Airways Open at the Royal Golf Club, followed in second place by Saqer Al Noaimi (37).

Nearest the pin side contests on holes 7 and 12 were won by Ronan Armstrong and Mohamed Al Sayed respectively.

Almost 60 golfers competed in the weekend’s stableford tournament and they had to battle strong wind and rising sand throughout, as well as a light shower towards the end of the event.

However, the competitors had a great time and all of them enjoyed a barbecue served in the Members’ Lounge after play. Prizes were distributed by British Airways Account Manager in Bahrain, Ajit Lobo.

The winner and runners-up received a premium economy return ticket to any British Airways destination of their choice.

“Thank you to British Airways for their sponsorship of the tournament,” commented Sohail Singh, the Royal Golf Club’s Tournament Coordinator. “We look forward to further collaborations in future.”

Results: 1 Debbie Lane (39 points), 2 Saqer Al Noaimi (37).

Nearest the Pins: Ronan Armstrong (hole 7)  and Mohammed Al Sayed (hole 12).
