Badminton tournament awarded to BKS
Manama : The Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF) and the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) signed an agreement awarding the Bahrain International Challenge badminton tournament to the BKS this year.
The BBSF has been sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) to conduct the event at the BKS from October and is a BWF Level 4 world ranking event that carries a total prize money of U$17,500.
Around 150 players, including many ranked among the top 50 are expected to participate in the event. It features five events - Men’s Singles/Doubles, Women’s Singles/Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
A tournament committee under the patronage of Shaikh Hussam bin Essan Al Khalifa, the BBSF President, has been formed to organise the tournament.
The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Hisham Alabbasi, Secretary General, BBSF, Francis Kaitharath, Acting President, BKS, N.K.Veeramani, General Secretary, BKS, Hussain Al Hardan, Manager, BBSF, Ashley George, Tournament Director and Noushad Cheriyil, Indoor Games Secretary, BKS.
