Bahraini acquitted in arms possession case

Manama: The High Criminal Court has acquitted a man accused of possessing explosives due to lack of evidence. The 32-year-old was held in connection with explosives unearthed from an apartment on December 6, 2012.

Prosecutors said that the defendant had intended to use the bombs against police officers, and he had constructed them with the help of another man. The bombs are said to have been stored in the apartment.

The defendant was arrested after investigations were launched in the event of a failed attempt to smuggle bombs on King Fahd Causeway.

The Bahraini man, however, pleaded not guilty, and the High Criminal Court underlined that there wasn’t a clear evidence to hold the defendant guilty and the police investigations into this case weren’t sufficient to rely on them to convict him.
